Whole Child Articles Used in Lessons
Whole Child Program:
Whole Child is a social-emotional instructional program provided to Nativity students. Each week, I instruct a 30 minute and 45 minute lesson for elementary and middle school students, respectively. These topics are aimed to address the understanding and identification of emotions of self and others, setting and achieving positive goals, experiencing empathy for others, establishing and maintaining positive relationships, and making healthy decisions. These program outcomes are achieved through classroom units including but not limited to: Mindfulness, Emotional Regulation, Reframing of thoughts, Conflict resolution, and Self-Esteem/Self talk.
These topics are adjusted depending on age group and developmental level. The goal of the Whole Child program is to encourage students to build skills and knowledge necessary for meeting their social-emotional needs, to promote a positive and supportive school culture through open conversations and decreased stigma of mental health, as well as encouraging and promoting our faith as a pillar of mental strength to overcome challenges and setbacks.
