Maria Milazzo is blessed to be the Director of Music at Nativity of Mary Church and School! As a Nativity of Mary alum, she is fulfilled and blessed to be back home doing what she loves. In the spring of 2018, Maria received her Masters of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Missouri - Kansas City, under the direction of Dr. Maria Kanyova. She received her Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance from Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey in 2014.
Upon her return to Kansas City in the fall of 2015, she assisted with Nativity's youth choir and fell in love with the joy of teaching! In January of 2016, Maria took the position as Director of Music at Nativity of Mary and shortly there after began teaching music classes in the school as well. Since joining the Nativity of Mary staff, Maria has implemented a strong music program and has instilled the joy of musical theatre in the community with her sister, Katia. Maria enjoys ministering the parish with music at the liturgies and planning concerts for both parish and school.
Previously, Maria could be seen as a performer in various musical productions like Cinderella, The King and I, Into the Woods, and The Sound of Music. Maria has a strong passion for opera and has recently been seen playing the roles of La Princesse in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortileges, Lauretta in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi and Unulfo in Handel’s Rodelinda. In addition to her mission at Nativity, she is currently working on her doctorate from the UMKC Conservatory. Maria enjoys opera, theatre, and making music with all ages!
